ABSTRACT PAINTING WITH DANI HUMBERSTONE – MONDAY 29th JUNE 2026
A voyage of discovery into using colour and the various ways of abstraction - what it means and how to do it.
Dani will help you understand colour, composition and the process of abstraction in a clear and practical way, encouraging you to let go of literal representation and use colour, shape and form to express ideas visually.
We’ll start the day with a fun introduction to colour theory, looking at the colour wheel, harmonious colour combinations, triads, opposites and complementary colours - Smarties may be used as a teaching aid!
With confidence to choose and mix your colours, Dani will then guide you through different ways of abstracting from what you see - how to simplify, exaggerate or reinterpret reality rather than copy it.
Working with acrylic paints, you will leave with a better understanding of the power of colour and abstraction with a few interesting artworks to take home.

Guided exercises in abstraction and composition
