YES YOU CAN KNIT WITH ELSPETH EVANS - TUESDAY 28th OCTOBER 2025

£120.00

Knitting is back, and for good reason. In our fast-moving world, there’s something very satisfying about slowing down, working with your hands, and creating something beautiful and useful. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it hard to stop - that simple beanie might be the start of a lifelong love affair with yarn and needles.

This one-day workshop is perfect for anyone who has never picked up a pair of needles, or for those ready to move on from knitting endless rectangles. Elspeth will teach you all the essentials: how to cast on, knit and purl, decrease stitches, as well as how to navigate the sometimes confusing world of knitting terminology. By the end of the day, you’ll have taken your first steps to becoming a brilliant knitter, and will go home with a cosy, hand-knitted hat made from the finest British Merino wool.

Choose from four beautiful shades – Oxford Blue, Mulberry, Olive, or Mustard – and experiment with different ribbing techniques to give your hat a personal touch.

What to Expect

  • A warm, relaxed and supportive atmosphere – perfect for absolute beginners

  • Step-by-step tuition covering essential knitting techniques

  • The chance to make your own soft Merino wool hat (with colour choice)

  • Friendly encouragement and plenty of time for practice

  • A new community of like-minded makers to knit alongside

Practicalities

  • Date & Time: 10am – 3:30pm

  • Location: Curious House

  • Materials: All included – top-quality British Merino wool (your colour choice) and knitting needles to take home

  • Food & Drink: Refreshments throughout the day plus a light lunch included

  • Take Home: Your finished hat, your needles, and the skills to start your next project

For a very special experience, enjoy a night or three at The Bell in Ticehurst. If you would like to bring a partner who doesn’t want to do a course, there are plenty of great things to do locally – a perfect staycation to explore the delights of the Kent/Sussex countryside or our favourite arty places locally.
Do try to book early, this is a very popular destination and much in demand. Let them know you are attending a course, and enjoy a free glass of bubbles on us with your dinner.
Booking direct should always offer you the best rate but occasionally the not so friendly algorithms thwart that ambition. If you find a better rate elsewhere, The Bell will always match it. Booking direct helps the business to thrive and how much nicer is it to talk to a real person who can help you with room choices and logistics. A great start to your stay.

Should you be unable to attend, for whatever reason - we are unable to offer refunds for our courses. You are welcome to transfer your course to friends or family, please let us know who will be attending in your place. Alternatively we will try to sell your place via our database and social media once the course has reached capacity. If successful, we will refund or offer an alternative course subject to availability. Please note we will deduct a 10% admin charge for any refunds that are made.
